    Ice Advisory!  Ford Lake & Saline River banks are icy and dangerous this time of year. Keep children away!

    Fire & Police Officials are warning citizens as to the dangers of thin ice forming on lakes and river banks.  Ice is forming at the shores/banks of the Saline River and Ford Lake. Once on the ice it may seem safe, but deep water & currents present special dangers. If you fall through it's almost impossible to get out and save yourself!
    Basic Tips;
    (1)Do not walk on the ice at Ford Lake - the river currents never make the lake ice completely safe!
    (2)Stay away from the banks of the Saline River - if you slip & fall the river currents are swift and can carry you downstream. The water is "extremely cold" and can cause hypothemia in munites, which can kill a person if you don't drown first!
    (3) If you visit the  Milan parks in the Winter - observe these safety tips. Report anyone you believe is in danger (kids playing on the river banks or walking on the ice).  Children can sometimes be atttracted to ice or open water and do not understand the danger!
